How I Choose What Goes Into Your Products
Hi, I'm Amy, and as a chemical engineer who needed something that actually worked, I'm pretty particular about ingredients.
When I was formulating my blends in my kitchen for months, I had some non-negotiables. These weren't just nice-to-haves. They were requirements based on what my body needed and what I knew from my engineering background actually works.
My Selection Criteria
Whole Plants, Not Extracts
I use whole, dried plants instead of isolated extracts because plants evolved with their nutrients working together. When you extract just one compound, you lose the natural support system that helps your body absorb and use it properly.
It's like taking the engine out of a car and expecting it to work the same way.
Low-Temperature Processing Only
Most companies blast their ingredients at high heat because it's fast and cheap. But heat destroys the nutrients you're paying for.
I specifically chose suppliers who use low-temperature drying (under 40°C) to preserve maximum nutrition. Yes, it takes longer and costs more, but that's the point.
No Artificial Sweeteners
I really don't like stevia, and I'm not alone. Through careful ingredient selection, I get natural sweetness without any artificial additives that leave that weird aftertaste.
Gentle on Sensitive Stomachs
Having sensitive customers who have IBS taught me that ingredients need to be easily digestible. I specifically chose combinations that support gut health rather than irritate it.
What's Actually In Your Products
Australian Broccoli & Spinach
The foundation of both blends. Packed with folate, vitamin K, and natural chlorophyll. I chose Australian-grown because it's fresher when processed and supports local farmers.
Spirulina & Chlorella
These algae are nutrition powerhouses – high in protein, B vitamins, and antioxidants. But they have to be processed correctly to avoid that overwhelming "pond" taste.
Raw Organic Sprouted Pea Protein
Plant protein that's easily digestible and doesn't cause the stomach issues that dairy can. Sprouted because it's gentler and more bioavailable.
Ground Chia Seeds
Natural source of omega-3s, fibre, and protein. Plus they add a subtle texture that makes smoothies more satisfying.
Maca Root
Traditionally used for energy and hormone balance. I include it because it provides sustained energy without the crash.
Raw Cacao
Matcha Green Tea
Australian Beetroot
Prebiotic Blend
This is where the gut-friendly magic happens. These ingredients naturally contain prebiotic fibre that feeds good bacteria, helping your body actually process all these nutrients without bloating.
Liver Cleansing Botanicals
Natural Vanilla
The only non-organic ingredient, used in tiny amounts for taste. Because even the healthiest blend needs to taste good enough that you'll actually drink it.
What I Don't Include (And Why)
❌ Stevia or Artificial Sweeteners – They taste terrible and many people can't tolerate them. I get sweetness from whole food ingredients instead.
❌ Fillers or Flow Agents – No maltodextrin, silicon dioxide, or other cheap fillers that bulk up products without adding nutrition.
❌ Synthetic Vitamins – I use whole dried plants rather than synthetic vitamins because it aligns with my philosophy of getting nutrition from real food sources.
❌ High-Heat Processed Ingredients – Heat destroys the nutrients you're paying for. If it's been cooked to death, what's the point?
❌ Cheap Protein Sources – No rice protein (incomplete amino acid profile) or soy protein (can cause digestive issues and is often heavily processed).
Why These Combinations Work
When I was experimenting in my kitchen, it wasn't just about throwing superfoods together. Each ingredient serves a purpose:
- The protein keeps you satisfied and supports muscle maintenance.
- The greens provide micronutrients most people don't get enough of.
- The prebiotic fibre helps your gut bacteria process everything properly.
- The gentle botanicals support your body's natural detox processes.
- The natural sweetness makes it taste good without artificial anything.
It took months to get the ratios right so everything works together without any one ingredient overpowering the others.
Quality Standards
Certified Organic
Every ingredient except the natural vanilla flavouring. Organic matters because it means no synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
Australian Ingredients Where Possible
Fresher when processed, supports local farmers, and reduces environmental impact.
Ingredient Testing
All ingredients are third-party tested for purity, heavy metals, and contaminants before they make it into your bag.
Small Batch Production
Made in Adelaide in small batches to ensure freshness and quality control.
The Bottom Line
I formulated these blends because I needed something that actually worked for my body and my lifestyle. Every ingredient decision was based on function, not marketing appeal.
I refused to take shortcuts even when it cost more, because when you need something that works, cute packaging doesn't cut it.
These aren't just random superfoods thrown together – they're specifically chosen and combined to work synergistically in your body.
